Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth & Middlesex Counties started as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth County in 1976. Resident Curtis Colby, befriended a boy, Joey whose father had died. Joey was in counseling at CPC and Curtis spent time with him as a CPC volunteer. He soon realized the positive impact of this one-to-one relationship. Joey had a younger brother who had an equal need for an adult male in his life. Curtis took it upon himself to contact the Monmouth County Division of Social Services and with their support and his leadership our agency was officially established.
Our agency recognized the need for youth mentoring in Middlesex County and gained approval from Big Brothers Big Sisters of America to serve the children there on January 1, 2011.
Each time we pair a child with a Big Brother or Big Sister, we start something incredible: a one-to-one relationship built on trust and friendship that can blossom into a future of unlimited potential. And thanks to the first-ever nationwide impact study of a mentoring organization, we have the facts to prove it.
Our 2012 Outcomes Report was compiled from completed Youth Outcomes Surveys (YOS) given to our Littles and shows the positive impact of their friendship with their Big!
